THINK #supportsmall

before joining Brynn’s team as an intern, I didn’t connect to the phrase “support small.” I knew the logic behind the importance of supporting small businesses, but it wasn’t until I have had this personal experience that I really understand the power of small businesses.  small businesses are the backbone of America. The entrepreneurship is what made this company great and small businesses are the foundation of that.

The 4th of July is just around the corner and with our focus on what it means to be an American; it is a perfect time to reflect on the importance of supporting your local small businesses. most important is supporting those with goods that are American made.  working for Brynn first hand has shown me the power of a small business. With my personal experience and based on an article by Entrepreneurial.com, I put together a list of five reasons why we should all make sure we are supporting small businesses within our communities.

1. improve the local economy.

When you buy local, most of that money stays in the community. local business owners often have an incentive to support other local businesses. Chain businesses and big corporations tend to get their supplies from other areas and many times other countries. In addition local business owners are invested in the community and ensuring their work is beneficial to the community not just to make a profit.

2. know the people behind the business.

Connecting with the person you are buying from can give you a deeper connection with the item you are buying. You can also feel better supporting businesses that represent your personal values and the values of your community.

3. better customer service.

For a big corporation we are all just a number. For a local business each and every customer is important and critical to success. When you shop local, small business owners are usually directly connected to every employee and customer in the store. That means you’ll receive a personal approach tailored to you and your needs.

4. A unique community.

Local businesses showcase the cultures within a community and give the community character. unique or specialized items that reflect a specific areas culinary tastes, style, and environment are often found in small local businesses. By supporting these businesses instead of chains, you are ensuring that uniqueness is preserved as a part of your community.

5. more personalized service.

Having the owner nearby also means that owner personally knows their customers wants and needs. They can tailor services to make your experience even better. For example, one of Brynn’s customers was vegan and was stopping using regular leather, so Brynn is now looking into vegan leathers to accompany her need and other possible customers who share the same view on leathers. supporting local business owners means you get a better level of service, as well as helping make your community a better place to live.
